Welcome! And thank you for volunteering with us
Volunteers play an essential role in creating a safe, welcoming, and positive environment at the skatepark. Your presence helps ensure smooth daily operations, supports skaters of all skill levels, and contributes to the overall culture of the park.
Volunteers are expected to be attentive, respectful, and proactive in maintaining both safety and a positive atmosphere. This handbook outlines your responsibilities and procedures to help you succeed in your role.

How to Connect to Bluetooth For Music
Please, be mindful of lyrics! Some cursing is ok, but if it is a barrage of cursing and filthy language, please don’t play it. We just ask you to be mindful, thank you.
- Either just use the iPad that is usually always connected to play music, or if you want your own music, follow the steps below
- There are 2 adapters along the wall that need to be connected, located between the A-frame and the stairs/step-up section
- One is a black rectangular object, this needs to have the green light on and active. The other adapter that needs to be on is the Logitech device which is a grey square with a big button centered on one side, to pair this button needs to be pressed.
- On your phone you need to Connect to Logitech BT Adapter to get music to play over the speakers
Front Desk Responsibilities
During your shift:
- Greet all visitors as they enter
- Charge admission and check passes
- Ensure all new visitors complete a waiver form before skating
- Answer phone calls and general questions
- Maintain visibility at the front desk, if you are skating and someone shows up, make sure you make your way to the front desk ASAP.
- Help create a welcoming and friendly environment
Volunteers set the tone of the park. Be approachable, calm, and respectful to all visitors.
Park Safety & Flow Management
Safety is the top priority at all times.
Volunteers must monitor park activity and help maintain proper flow and safe use of the facility.
Beginner and Advanced Areas
- Beginner areas are intended for new and less experienced skaters
- Advanced areas are intended for experienced skaters comfortable with speed and obstacles
- When the park is busy, beginners should be directed helpfully toward beginner areas
- Volunteers should politely redirect skaters when necessary to prevent congestion or unsafe conditions
This helps reduce collisions, injuries, and unsafe situations.
Birthday Parties & Group Bookings
Birthday parties and group bookings receive exclusive access to the mezzanine area during their reserved time.
Volunteer responsibilities include:
- Greeting the group upon arrival
- Directing them to the mezzanine area
- Ensuring the group understands basic park safety expectations
- Monitoring the park for safe flow and behavior
Birthday parties often include beginner skaters unfamiliar with skatepark etiquette. Volunteers should help guide beginners toward appropriate areas and ensure advanced areas remain safe and functional during busy periods.
Maintain a calm, helpful, and supportive presence.
Cleaning & Facility Maintenance
Volunteers are responsible for maintaining a clean and organized environment.
Tasks include:
- Clean the toilets! We understand this is not the most glamorous job, but it’s also very important for a functioning business to have clean bathrooms. You will score major brownie points with Ryan if you clean the toilets and let him know about it.
- Removing garbage from bathrooms and main areas as needed
- Sweeping and cleaning floors when necessary
- Checking and restocking toilet paper, paper towels, and soap
- Keeping the front desk clean and organized
- Restocking fridge with drinks when needed
A clean facility contributes to safety and professionalism.
Also, if you really want to help and clean the floor with the floor cleaning machine, you can find a video here explaining how to use the machine. Thanks!
